What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?
Interlibrary loan, or ILL , is a borrowing and lending of materials between libraries. This allows Terrebonne Parish Library patrons to borrow materials not found in the library system. It also allows other libraries to borrow Terrebonne Parish Library materials. Our Interlibrary Loan department will search for items locally via other Louisiana parish libraries and academic libraries, as well as nationwide.
Who can use the Interlibrary Loan Service?
Terrebonne Parish Library patrons, age 15 and older, with a valid adult library card are eligible. Patrons must not have more than $1.00 in outstanding fines or fees, or have any overdue items in order to use the interlibrary loan service.

What can be borrowed?
The following items may be requested through interlibrary loan:
- Books
- Periodicals
- Microfilm
- Books on tape
- Books on CD
- Videos
- DVDs
- Photocopies of newspaper and magazine articles
Some requests may not be able to be filled. Most unfilled requests are denied due to cost and availability, as well as the age and fragility of the item. All loan requests are made and filled at the discretion of Terrebonne Parish Library or the owning library.
How much will it cost me?
There is generally no charge for interlibrary loan services. In some rare cases, a library may charge a fee for processing or photocopies.

How long will it take?
An interlibrary loan request can take from 2-6 weeks for delivery. (For hard to find items, delivery times may be longer).

An online form can be filled out by clicking here. This form will be sent to the ILL librarian and she will process your request.
Requests may also be submitted directly by the patron by following the instructions here.
Interlibrary Loan FYI!

- Patrons will be charged the replacement cost for any lost or damaged ILL materials.
- Regular library fines apply to overdue items. A patron's borrowing privileges may be restricted if there are overdue ILL items on their record.
